War Child handles the data of the users of its online products and services with utmost care. Personal data is treated and protected carefully. Securing and processing of data

As a part of its services, War Child keeps a record of its visitors. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, your information will not be provided to third parties. War Child uses your personal data to process a membership or a one-time gift and / or to provide other services. In addition, your personal data can be used to inform you about relevant news and offers regarding other War Child products and services. In doing so, we try to take your preferences into account. If you do not find this acceptable, you can communicate this by e-mailing info@warchild.nl.

We use comprehensive security procedures to protect the data we process - for example, to prevent unauthorized access to the data.

The use of cookies

War Child uses cookies in offering its services. A cookie is a simple small file that is stored on the hard disk of a computer. War Child uses temporary cookies. These cookies contain no personal data and are only used to facilitate the use of our websites.

(1) Functional cookies

War Child places a cookie to see whether or not a web visitor accepts the cookies on our websites. This cookie registers your consent.

Features: This cookie belongs to War Child and is removed after one month.

Sharing: We do not share your information with third parties.

(2) Analytics cookies

Our websites keep visitor records and metrics, such as the most visited pages. This allows War Child to optimize the layout of its websites.

For this purpose, War Child makes use of Google Analytics. We can collect information about, for example, the date and time when someone visits our websites and which pages are looked at. War Child uses this data to improve its websites, to compile 'traffic' statistics (such as the times of the day or the days in the week when the website attracts the most visitors) and to measure the popularity of the different aspects of the websites. War Child uses this data in an aggregated form and cannot trace it back to any computer or individual.

(3) Marketing cookies

On our websites we display buttons and widgets from the social networks Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram, to allow you to easily share War Child campaigns and news with friends. These buttons are pieces of code from the social media platforms in question, and use a cookie. This cookie remembers that you are logged in so that you do not have to log in on Twitter or Facebook every time you want to share something. To know what they do with personal data that they receive through the use of this code, you can review the privacy statements of Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn (which can change regularly).

Facebook and Twitter cookies are only placed if you are logged in to Facebook when visiting a War Child website and have given permission for this.

By installing a program such as 'Disconnect' for Chrome and Firefox, you can disable this feature.

War Child uses ‘retargeting’ on its websites. We use this technique to make advertising on the internet relevant to your interests. For example, this allows for relevant advertisements on other websites to internet users who have already shown an interest in War Child. War Child is convinced that displaying personalized advertisements for internet users is more interesting than advertisements that are irrelevant to the user. The display of these advertisements on the websites of partners is done with the help of cookies and an analysis of earlier usage behaviour.
