Business Analyst - Functional Lead Business Systems

War Child is looking for:

A Business Analyst - Functional lead business systems who will support the organization in optimizing and automating business processes, innovation/improvements of existing and new requirements and the management and running of the Information Systems under which most business processes of the organization are automated.

You will be a functional lead responsible for optimizing and automating business processes and access to information for all functional areas in the organization by using management information systems, data platforms and for optimizing usage of the systems.

In addition, you will be involved in a wider range of digital innovation projects focused on data and the scaling of War Child's work. you will play a key role in organisational change projects, and lead the implementation and optimization of systems and processes.

Place in the organization

The business analyst is part of the ICT department and receives hierarchical management from the Global ICT Manager. The business analyst participates in organizational projects as a (main) representative of the business. In addition, the Business Analyst leads their own projects, ensuring successful implementation and optimization of systems and processes.

Your Mission:

Develop and implement new solutions and processes

  • Asks the right questions to get processes and requirements clear from the business, coaches the domain experts to translate their content expertise into IT requirements.
  • Signalizes, initiates and actions process improvement possibilities, participates in and provides advice on information management projects.
  • Maintains helicopter overview on War Child processes, pro-actively signalizes and actions potential overlaps and solutions across functional and departmental domains.
  • Translates business processes to usable cases and system requirements, translates user needs to system developers and system solutions.
  • Supervises plans and conducts implementation of developed functionalities.
  • Coordinates and develops (programming) complex reports and selections (e.g., KPIs).
  • Facilitates projects being delivered with the right quality, result and on time.
  • Acts as the liaison officer with development teams or external vendors who help War Child to implement new or innovative solutions.

  • Leads and enables change process to create sustainable change. Focus areas:

    • Ability to implement required skills and behaviors,
    • Reinforcement to sustain the change
  • Proactively communicates with all stakeholders including the business keeping them informed and satisfied.
  • Motivates project team members and domain experts in a way to keep them engaged, get the best out of them and ensure the project results are achieved.
  • Coach domain experts in translating their business needs into new processes and usable user stories or functional designs.
  • Has excellent communication and influencing skills both verbally and written and can effectively communicate with users and developers but also give a good presentation to Board Members.
  • Advocates for change and identifies and manages resistance in internal organization.
  • Identifies extra needs and opportunities for improved acceptance and valuable follow up trajectories.

Functional Lead - Additional Responsibilities

  • Advise and support leadership on operational decision making / planning.
  • Lead contact within the IT team for day to day queries / escalations / guidance on operational matters.
  • Co-develop and optimize Information Technology related policies and procedures and coordinate and ensure their implementation and adherence.
  • Recognize and drive operational areas for change and improvement.
  • Actively ensure all regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
  • Provide specialist IT input to the wider team regarding global IT operational initiatives.
  • Co-Lead IT Annual Planning preparation process including objective setting and budgets.

Provides training Develops or coordinates development of training programmes in the area of information management and usage of systems and technology, organizes (advanced) training and provides guidance to (key) users on relevant topics.

  • Coordinates and supports department/process owners in developing manuals and maintains FAQ.

Your Profile:

  • Academic work- and thinking level, in the area of Business and/or Information Management.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Business Analysis.
  • Change leadership competencies for sustainable and successful change
  • Stakeholder management skills on all levels.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and leading projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business processes and services of the organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with CRM and ERP systems, and development and optimization of data platforms or business intelligence solutions.
  • Flexible, accurate and hardworking, both independently and in a team environment, able to cope with a high pressure, multi-tasking environment with changing priorities.
  • Structured and have organizational talents.
  • Excellent verbal and written expression skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).

War Child is based in Afghanistan, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Colombia, DR Congo, Germany, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territory, South Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Uganda, Ukraine and Yemen. Preference is given to applicants who reside and have valid working permits. War Child does not offer relocation.

If Based in Netherlands:

  • Salary range from €3108 - €3865 gross per month, based on 40 hours per week (the exact step determined by the years of relevant working experience)
  • 29 vacation days on full time basis (consisting of 26 vacation days plus 3 additional fixed free days, based on 40 hours work week)
  • A pension scheme fully paid by War Child
  • Reimbursement of your commuter – and working from home allowance
