Only a day after the start of the war on Gaza, hostilities broke out in the south of Lebanon. Nine months later, at least 97 civilians have been killed, and hundreds more injured - with nearly 100,000 people driven from their homes under Israeli bombardment. Hear more from our Country Director on the impact of this escalating crisis on children.

Most of those displaced have remained in the south dotted across locations further from the border. Others have fled to the capital, Beirut and other areas across the country. “Children across Lebanon were already living in the midst of poverty and economic crisis. Now, they are facing unprecedented levels of uncertainty with a devastating impact on their mental health”, says Nisrine Yassine, War Child Lebanon Country Director.

War Child is providing displaced children in the south with educational materials in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and other international NGOs. “Education is so important in this context”, adds Yassine. “It’s the only way to sustain hope for the future.”

“Parents are exhausted. Children are anxious. What will tomorrow bring? Will the violence spread? The world needs to know: there is also conflict in Lebanon and it is affecting all of us."
